Restaurant marketing is an ever-changing activity and the change has never been happening at a faster pace than it is today! Being in the Yellow Pages is no longer the most important listing for you to have-you need an online presence in order to get noticed.

While there are many options available, being found in a Google search is probably the most important. Not only is it easy, it’s free and very, very effective!

When you do a Google search looking for a product, service-or restaurant-you will see a “Local Business Results” box that includes a map and list of local businesses that match your request Big Island restaurants.

Your task is to not only be included on that list but also to be prominently positioned-being at or near the top has proven to regularly result in increased traffic.

So how do you ensure that your restaurant is well-positioned? First of all, you need to ensure that your business name is listed in Google Maps and the Local Business Center.

If seafood is your specialty, make sure that that it is in the description. If you offer steaks, pasta, pizza, and seafood, you’ll want to list them all. Link on your homepage If your restaurant has a website, adding a link to your Google local listing will also give you “points” in Google’s listing criteria.

General Information: Again, because Google is all about content, the more information you provide about your restaurant-hours, payment accepted, parking availability, alcohol, etc.-the better your ranking will be.

I can’t think of any other restaurant promotion that will give you more bang for your buck than a Google Local Listing. First of all, it doesn’t cost you a buck-it’s free! It’s also easy to setup and maintain.
